Oluyole Progressive Union UK Holds Grand Year-End Reception

The Oluyole Progressive Union UK, a vibrant socio-cultural association based in the United Kingdom, recently hosted a colourful and well-attended End-of-Year party, bringing members and guests together in an atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and cultural pride.

The grand reception, held on January 3, 2026, at the Denmark Hill Community Hall, Camberwell, London, was organised to give thanks for the successful completion of the year 2025 and to celebrate the achievements of members throughout the year. Speaking at the event, the Association’s President, Alhaji Akeem Akinborode, expressed heartfelt appreciation to God for His grace and guidance.

“We sincerely thank God for the successful completion of the year 2025 and for the abundant blessings and successes He bestowed upon us,” Akinborode said, while commending the unwavering commitment and unity of members.

The President, a financial expert with Eminent Financial Ltd., also thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the programme, either through support, donations, or physical presence, describing the turnout as encouraging and inspiring.

The celebration was marked by undiluted fun, meaningful networking, and a rich display of Yoruba culture and Ibadan heritage. Guests were treated to an array of food and drinks, alongside donations, raffle draws, and other engaging activities.

A major highlight of the event was the official launch of two new books by HRH Oba Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola — Giant Strides and Ibadan Hegemony — with Alhaji Sulaiman Ajayi serving as the Chief Launcher.

The occasion attracted several notable dignitaries, including HRH Oba Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola, the Balogun of Ibadanland; Chief (Barr.) Abdul Gafar Gbadamosi, Mogaji of the Atere family of Ibadan; Chief (Alh.) Lukman Okedina, Mogaji of Ile Toki, Ayeye, Ibadan; Chief Muili Oluwole Oladejo, Mogaji Agbon Omilabu; Chief Yinka Adeniran, among others.

Founded in 2000, the Oluyole Progressive Union is one of the affiliated socio-cultural clubs under the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII). Over the years, the association has remained committed to community development and social responsibility, particularly in supporting Ibadan indigenes at home and in the diaspora.

Notably, the Union is actively involved in charitable initiatives, including regular donations to Adeoyo Maternity Hospital, Ibadan, reinforcing its dedication to giving back to society and preserving the values of unity, culture, and service.
