- A Scholar and an Industrialist: Born on September 25, 1944, Oba Ladoja is an accomplished Chemical Engineer. After completing his studies abroad, he worked with a multinational petroleum company before establishing his own successful shipping company, becoming a notable captain of industry.
- A Statesman and a Governor: Perhaps his most widely known role before ascending the throne was his service as the Executive Governor of Oyo State from 2003 to 2006. His tenure was marked by a focus on education and civil service reforms, earning him the reputation of a principled and people-oriented leader.
